The Hauraki Rail Trail(HRT) is Located less than 2 hours from Auckland New Zealand’s largest City
The Hauraki Rail Trail is a short drive from Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga and is accessible from Kaiaua (10km to Miranda) in the north, Thames, Paeroa, Te Aroha, Waihi/Waikino, and Matamata in the south. The temperate climate in this area provides a great all-year round riding experience.

The Waikato River Trail is made up of five stages, stretching from a car park north of the settlement of Arapuni down to Atiamuri, near Lake Taupo. The trail can be ridden in either direction. Some stages flow along easy, gravelled paths suitable for all ages, while others are rough mountain bike tracks, complete with tight switchbacks and steep hills.

Described as the ‘Disneyland of mountain Biking; Whakarewarewa (aka The Redwoods) contains some of the best purpose-built mountain bike trails in New Zealand. There are lots of facilties at the trail head, and enough trails weaving through the forest to keep you entertained for a weekend. Northern Lake Taupo Distance -15-73km Time 2 hours-2 days Grade 3 ( Intermediate)
With stunning lookouts and beautiful bays for swimming or picknicking, this track is simply the best land-based way to explore the northern half of Lake Taupo. From Taupo township, the adventure begins with a short drive to one of three trailheads. Choosetobike one, two, or all three stages of the Great Lakes Trail depending on how much time you have. All three provide relatively easy mountain biking through an interesting volcanic landscape of native forest, large rock outcrops and welcoming bays on the shores of New Zealand’s largest lake.
The Huka Trails-Taupo
(previously called the Upper Waikato River Trails or Eastern Tracks) can be accessed from several places in and around Taupō. The closest access from town is through Spa Park off Spa Road. The tracks undulate along the banks of the mighty Waikato River with stunning views of the crystal clear water. If you want to see the famous Huka Falls, view the Aratiatia Dam open or access the Craters MTB Park from town, this is an awesome way to get there.
